Youth Club Network
Corduff Community Project
We are a group of 6 dj’s from Blanchardstown. We meet every Thursday night in Corduff Community Centre to practice dj skills and also learn some new ones.
We first learned how to dj back in August 2007 when young dj academy ran training in our youth project. We really enjoyed the course and wanted to learn more about dj’ing, so we asked our youth leader if we could form a dj group. Since then we got our own equipment, we have got two Technics 1210 turntables, a pioneer djm600 mixer, we run this equipment through a pa system and we have a good start on a record collection. We plan on doing some fundraising in the future so we can buy cd decks and also add to our already growing music collection.
We are interested in dj’ing because we like the different ways a dj can play music e.g. scratching, beatmatching and different styles of mixing. Its cool the way a dj can control the music people hear. Its like being an artist the way you can have different styles and you can plan out the way you play your music. The way we play our own mixes is like our own signatures.
At the moment we are working on our first club mixes that we will record later this summer. We will create album covers for the mixes and give out copies. Another project we are going to do is create a bebo website so people can see what were doing.
Watch out for the Corduff crew
