Youth Work Programmes

Youth Work is done on an outreach basis from the academy. We provide training to youth or other community projects in their own facility. We are the only dj training service which offers this. Music programs are tailored for each project depending on the needs of the group, this is agreed at an early stage between youth/ community workers and Young DJ Academy staff.

We are in a position to support projects with funding applications and we can provide advice and consultation to projects on getting started with music programs.

DJ Radio Broadcast Programme

The academy can facilitate radio based training programs, giving young people an opportunity to broadcast on live radio. This programme includes introduction to a live working studio, planning and running a radio programme, recording audio, interviewing and content management for broadcasts. This is a developmental programme and key to the DJ industry

Hip Hop Rap Programme
The academy can facilitate rap/hip hop workshops in conjunction with the modern soul academy.

D.J’s Take Control Programme
The D.J’s take control programme is a new concept in the Academy which was piloted in March of 2006. The programme involved working with a group of young people in a community project in Dublins East Wall area. The group trained with the Academy for a number of weeks. During that time they covered the course curriculum and planned and ran an event in their local community centre with the assistance of the Academy. The training included D.J’ing skills and technique, planning and promotion of the event and the running of the centre on the night. The D.J’s played sets for 45 minutes each and the night was a huge success. This programme is now open for bookings.
